How long does a ballbar test take?

A single-plane test on a standard VMC is around 30 minutes on the machine. Multiple planes, or before-and-after tests around a repair, take longer. Most jobs are in and out inside half a day.

Can I have testing bundled with a service?

Yes. Combining ballbar testing with a routine service gives you a full geometry snapshot in the machine file. Useful before a big job, or when you're trying to catch drift before it costs you parts.

What does the test actually measure?

Circularity, backlash, squareness, reversal spikes, servo mismatch, scale mismatch, cyclic error and lateral play. Each maps to an ISO 230-4 diagnostic category so the fault is traceable.
